Andrew Spraggon and the Sola Rosa team have compiled a fabulous soulful collection of tracks full of groove and sensuous singing from a superb array of “featured” vocalists. There are no less than 9 listed singers, with only Kevin Mark Trail listed as the album/bands vocalist.
The album has a collaborative feel but stays surprisingly stable and balanced. Any track would slot nicely into the hippest DJ’s hit list. Warm upbeat tunes, soulful hip hop and funk, each track has its own feel and character, full of rich voices that serenade us with emotion and passion, like in Right on Time, Too Long In The Sun and the funky Get Your Move Gone. My favourite is Can We Get it Together with cool funky guitar, a stomping beat, and an infectious chorus chant.
Overall the album grooves and chills, full of feeling and varied moods like in To The Ocean which yearns and sways with a dreamy vocal craving, and the softer Young the Giant which has a cool folk and blues feel. The cool grooves and steady rhythms throughout the album are the platform to showcase the varied vocalists, I can see people dancing to Can We Get it Together, Never Too Far and Get Your Move Gone, but mostly the album has a cool groove sound, very much a clap and sing along collection to enjoy.
Magnetics has a charming attraction and with repeated listening’s you hear more of the heart and soul of each track and feel boosted by its warmth and personality, so give it a spin and experience the allure of Magnetics.
