A release by New Zealand based Apollo SteamTrain, the 'Double A Side' single The Electric Sun/Streets Of Gold is a neat way to feature the strengths of the band. Well recorded, these two songs are pleasantly composed with much thought put in to the tones and soundscape used. The mix is wonderfully done, especially in The Electric Sun, effectively utilising a range of well placed instruments to enhance the emotional impact of the piece.
The Electric Sun is a delicate and sweetly melancholy ballad-esque composition. With gorgeous harmonies and backing vocals, it’s a truly lovely piece.
It’s always a pleasure to hear songs that have been beautifully presented and handled tenderly right through the process. It’s this care that really can lift a song up, and it’s clear Apollo SteamTrain have been gentle along the way.
These tracks
will likely be super palatable to fans of bands like Soul Asylum, Manic Street
Preachers, Goo Goo Dolls and Coldplay. This isn’t to imply this twin release is dated, it’s not in the
slightest, however these fans have grown up and Apollo SteamTrain would be a
great match for them.
Apollo SteamTrain are definitely worth a listen.
