Scribe

Bio

Scribe is undoubtedly the shining star of New Zealand's much celebrated young hip-hop scene.

Following his outstanding guest appearances on P-Money's 'Big Things' album, Scribe has released his debut album 'The Crusader' in both New Zealand and Australia to much acclaim. Scribe is from Christchurch and is signed with Kog Transmissions.

"Scribe is arguably currently New Zealand's best rapper but if he continues pumping out material like what's contained on this, his debut album, he's bound for world domination."
4 out of 5 stars, SLM, Daily Telegraph

Scribe’s first solo show held at Club 77 after the Big Day Out sold out within 5 minutes of the doors opening!

'The Crusader' debuted at #17 on the ARIA Urban Chart, and still remains in the top 20 after 20 weeks.

Scribe is the first Kiwi artist to ever simultaneously hold the number one spots on the album and singles chart.

For a Kiwi artist to sell gold within hours and platinum within days in their home country is phenomenal. The album is now Quadruple platinum in New Zealand having sold 65 000 albums to date in the three months since release!

"If Scribe hailed from Los Angeles or New York, you can bet he'd be hotter than hot right now. Whether a hip-hopper from New Zealand can take on big wigs has yet to be seen; but he's certainly got the talent to do so." electricnewspaper.com

"Scribe certainly has a stage presence and is one artist that is able to straddle the ground between the underground and the commercial ease." City Rules tour review, 3D World

Scribe is also a member of Verse Two and has featured at the Aotearoa Hip-Hop Summit. He has been described to have 'awesome vocal talents' as featured on the 2001 Best Song 'Sunshine'.

New Zealand hip hop star Scribe is set to release his long-awaited second album later this year.

A statement from his record company Dirty Records said the Christchurch rapper's second album Rhyme Book in October, and his first single from the album would be related next month.

It is nearly four years since the release of Scribe's first album 'The Crusader', which went on to sell more than 180,000 copies in Australasia.

'The Crusader' spent 75 weeks in the New Zealand top 40. His single, 'Stand Up'/'Not Many' spent 10 weeks at No 1, a record for a New Zealand artist.

He is expected to play three club gigs in Australia in August and could also play with Blindspott during their farewell tour of New Zealand during that month

Sup gang?

My cousin brought me the crusader home from NZ last year and it spends more time in my stereo than any other disc I own, He's the shiznit I can't believe he hasn't gone more worldwide...It's crazy.

Anyhow I'm hoping someone can give me a lead on any other releases by the scribble.

As you can imagine other than the net it's pretty hard to find anything on him over here.

thanx.

Scribes Dreaming I need Help
Posted: Mon Sep 26, 2005 11:37 am
Dreaming- This is Scribes greatest song Because It Talks about how it was so hard to get his flow going and how he sacrificed things even when there wasn't anything to sacrifice And I'm ready to do the same I reckon he really is 'The Crusader' and im makin' or at least tryin to make my way there too so if anyone can help a 15yr old melbourne girl who's got flow give me a call on either (03)9754-2096 or my mobile 0403214282 And Just ask for Alex

This is just one of my Ryhmes.

Writin' like lightin' Scribe Isn't Dying, He's at the top y'all
And he ain't gonna stop without Fightin'
He'll Be keepin On Writin' Till the end is near
Coz NZ and His Hommies Backed him all the way up here
This Ain't Frightenin'
This is all about Takin' it shaken it
Makin' the whole world tremour just Makin' it here
Coz U gotta eventually make it out there
And If U don't u gotta keep going coz there no time to Spare
You gotta have the faith to pull through to the end
I try so hard and keep doin' my thing
but lifes so hard when your not supported by friends
An People don't expect you to Do Anythin' Go Anywhere
laugh At ya ideas you be dreamin' in bed
But don't be scared coz this is your start
And your flow will go to the dreams, the dreams in your heart
But you gotta stop and listen to the hip hop inside
An when u make it your goin' for the ride of your life

The Football Federation of Australia have chosen Scribe’s hit ‘Not Many’ as the anthem to sell Australian soccer to a new generation of fans.

The ad depicts paint-splattered Queensland Roar captain Chad Gibson, Newcastle Jet Nick Carle and Adelaide United's Ross Aloisi showing off their ball skills in beat to Scribe's words.

i hate to say it - but i that scribe doesn't win - i hope the actual writer of the song does. All scribe does it write lyrics, then sing (or mainly rap) the songs. I dont believe that he has ever put a note on a page in his life - but lyrics yet.

can someone tell me otherwise ?

Scribe - Finalist in International Songwriting Competition
Posted: Wed Feb 23, 2005 5:56 pm
Scribe's 'Not Many' (the remix) has just been announced a finalist of the International Songwriting Competition.

The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) is an annual songwriting contest which provides the opportunity for both aspiring and established songwriters to have their songs heard in a professional, international arena. ISC has the most prestigious panel of judges of all the songwriting contests in the world, offering exposure and the opportunity to have your songs heard by the most influential decision-makers in the music industry.

"In addition to great prizes, ISC offers the unique opportunity to have your music heard by the most impressive group of judges from a variety of industry backgrounds in any songwriting competition. This makes ISC the songwriting competition to take note of." – Robbie Woliver, New York Times

Part of the competition is a public vote on all the finalists. You can vote for the same song once a day until voting finishes. The link is:
