Bing Turkby is so flash
Posted: Thu Jun 5, 2008 5:11 pm
In another world first for Palmerston North, the entire Bing Turkby back catalogue is now available on a flash drive. The ‘Turkby drive’, as it has been dubbed, includes 11 CDs’ worth of songs, 3 music videos, 4 humourous “musical instruction” videos, and a photo of Bing’s cat in a box.

“I got the idea from someone’s blog on the internet”, said Bing. “It was such a good idea that if I didn’t think of it, someone else would have to think of it for me, and they did.”

Bing’s record label, TurkbyTone Rekkids, is currently posting a new musical instruction video every month on YouTube and also at www.myspace.com/turkby to whet the public’s appetite for all things Bing.

Other notable releases in unusual formats include Ringo Starr’s last album (available as a wristband flash drive), and the cassette-plus-chewing gum-and-comic releases from fellow Palmerston North band Rungled several years ago.
