Blending emotive songs with a driving force, at one moment all ethereal textures, at the next caustic attack, Sky Like Skin are based around the songwriting talents and soaring vocals of Jaime Regan, and the distinct combination of Simon Hall (guitars), Gareth Foster (bass) and Hayden Redwood (drums).

Sky Like Skin launched their unique sound in mid-2003, shortly after Jaime had arrived in NZ from Britain. After making an impact on the local singer-songwriter scene, Jaime met up with Gareth and Simon, and the trio swiftly began gigging around Christchurch, before meeting up with drummer J.P.. With a sound that hints at elements of PJ Harvey, Wilco, and Smashing Pumpkins, almost instantly Sky Like Skin began to garner accolades from local music fans and press, as a band to watch. From the gently defiant confession of 'Straw Dog' to the blistering betrayal of 'Tenderhooks', together, the four members of Sky Like Skin set about building a fanbase by playing live wherever and whenever they could.

June 2004 saw the band head into the studio to record their first EP. However, the project was shelved following initial dissatisfaction with the results, and frustrations over financial constraints. After a brief hiatus, Sky Like Skin parted company with their drummer. Jaime used this period to his advantage, by writing new songs and taking some time to gig and record in London. Upon his return to NZ, Sky Like Skin immediately set to work on the new songs.

With the recent addition of drummer Hayden Redwood, Sky Like Skin have returned to gigging regularly. They will also be recording their debut in the coming weeks, and are preparing a summer tour of NZ, with an overseas tour planned to start in 2006.
