The Madison Press

Bio

The Madison Press formed at the end of 2005 from the ashes of Augustino and singer, Jooles’ solo project, Diefenbacker. In the short time that they’ve been together they have created quite a stir in the New Zealand indie scene.

It’s easy to hear where The Madison Press take their inspiration, with influences ranging from 80s goth pop like The Cure and Depeche Mode through to Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails, but it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what they sound like.

The experience of Joel, Andrew and Jooles is strengthened by the energy of the young rhythm section provided by Benjamin and Jordan. This synergy, the strength of their sound and some powerful songs has already attracted
attention from major radio stations like The Rock and Kiwi FM, who have both put the first single 'I Know (What I’d Do)' on normal rotation and seen the band invited to play the Rocket Festival in Spain and a string of UK dates.

NZonAir have also recognised the band’s potential by awarding them a new recording grant for their second single, 'Don’t Say Anything' in March. The boys are currently recording the single and hope to release it in early May to coincide with the video release, as well as gearing up for
various NZ showcases and gigs.

Band Members:
Jordan (drums)
Jooles (vocals, guitars)
Andrew (guitars, keys)
Joel (guitars, backing vocals)
Benjamin (bass, synths)

So we lucked in and were awarded a grant to record our second single, "Don't Say Anything"... we are understandably stoked!

We've already tracked the drums at York Street and will be working with Andrew Buckton as producer at Studio 203.

Come and hear us at our showcase on March 31st at the Classic on Queen St, AKL, with support from indie favourites, Voom
