Soma for Kinder started out one night after a bottle of red wine and records.
Tanya Horo, vocalist and co-writer of the indie/electronic group Soma For Kinder would have happily spent decades listening to Bjork and singing sombre lullabies had she not moved to Sydney on a whim and been found and corrupted by Jono Ma and his love of "wintery" electronic grooves, brain-washing computers and noisy processed guitars.
Tanya never quite leaving The Cure, Bauhaus and Bowie in their respective eras and Jono, developing a fixation for a seemingly endless supply of tasteful 12" from Berlin and the diverse army of pioneering artists on the UK label Warp Records helped these two misfists form Soma For Kinder.
Named after Nick Littlemore (PNAU) heard their very first track 'Spooked'.
Along came Liam, a young chap from the country full of bass riffs and an edge in his voice that gave the songs new meaning. The band then had the passion to find a drummer that didn't sound like drummer, nor played like a drummer. With that in mind they found Jhonny from Dunedin. And so it was formed. The four of them writing strange and eccentric beats in a small room in Bondi dreaming of touring to New Zealand.
Band Members:
Jono (computer, guitar, space echo, juno)
Tanya (vocals, guitar, glock, melodica)
Liam (bass, vocals)
Jhonny (drums, samples)
