Dean Rainey and the Roadies are an established band that came together through the Otago University Music Department. Dean Rainey, formally of Danish rock outfit Langsyne (see www.langsyne.dk for details) has been looking for players to play his original compositions and collaborate new material since going solo in 2002.
The Roadies music can be likened to various artists, such as; Silverchair, The Beatles, the Beach Boys, Green Day, the Who, Coldplay, and the Dave Matthews Band to name a few.
Dean honed both his performance and compositional skills playing at; festivals in the Danish summer of 1999, and while studying at Christchurch Jazz School and the University of Otago. Now a finalist at Otago University, his lyrics are deep, and draw from personal and social observations. His music style various from song song to song, with a huge attention to detail like the instrumentation of Dunedins Cothram Foirfe Youth Choir, and live strings used in the last recording as an example For 2006, Dean Rainey and the Roadies are planning on getting out of the studio and playing live performances. (Perhaps obtain a suntan whilst in the process?).
With the distinct sounding line up of this band, it is definitely a must see for music lovers. A true musicians band Give your ears a workout they deserve and go see a live gig somewhere near you soon.
