Carbis Bay is from New Zealand and it shows....
Being a perfect example of the DIY culture, Noticing a lack of variance and difference in their local scene, they took it upon themselves to fill the void.
Having played together in basements, church halls, and beaches for years, these lads have a sort of chemistry that some think is concerning.
These 4 have learnt from each other and the environment that raised them, however are hellbent on providing something new and different to the ‘barbecue music’ that their country has been flooded with over recent years.
Swirling ideas of tangled relationships, struggling to be happy, and the facade of 21st century success, all culminate inside a surprisingly youthful yet ‘wise beyond its years’ mixing pot. Bringing a new wave of emo to a scene that has been deprived of anything similar for so long.
Vocalist/Guitarist Josh Griffin, Bassist/Backing vocalist Jack Koch, Lead Guitarist Danyon Lythgow and Drummer Fraser Bremner blend together a series of emotional subjects and tie them together with their signature ‘oh well’ mentality. Never taking themselves all too seriously but sticking true to what they set out to accomplish.
