New Zealand Band Ekko Park release their new single Going Uptown today.
The single was produced by Greg Haver (Manic
Street Preachers, Bullet For My Valentine, Super Furry Animals) and
recorded at Roundhead Studios in Auckland.
Band member Joe Walsh says "The song was written in its entirety while
watching coverage of the woman's marches around the world earlier this
year. We wanted to capture the anger and
defiance of the day but also the happy carnival atmosphere that we were
witnessing. It’s a joyous protest song!"
Going Uptown is available on all major download and streaming
platforms.
To accompany the single release, the band will release a Going Uptown video funded by NZ On Air and directed by Ed Davis. (The
Black Seeds, Jakob, The Jordan Luck Band, Concord Dawn).
Ekko Park’s next show is headlining the Auckland City Rockfest at The
Kings Arms on Saturday August 19.
The band are also thrilled to share they received an Outward Sound Grant from the New Zealand Music Commission and will be touring in Europe later in the year. The tour is expected to be announced in August.
