Starkers - Starkers Newsletter Interview

04 Sep 2005 // An interview by Shade
The following was included on the muzic.net.nz Newsletter:

Which NZ artist/band do you think will be a huge international success one day?

Starkers I hope! I'm a fan of so many Kiwi bands right now, they could all go massive.

Who would you most like to tour with?

Realistically I would just like to be on tour, so I don't care too much about who with, they'd have to enjoy having a few beers and a laugh though .80's era Motley Crue would be fun !>>

What is your most embarrassing concert moment?

Haven't really had any really bad ones (touch wood). Maybe being a tad drunk and being way out of tune and time!!

What are you planning on doing during 2005?

Playing live as much as possible, releasing our EP, getting NZonair funding, touring the North Island.

How did you come up with the name Starkers?

Process of elimination, we couldn't agree on anything else and we needed it to enter a competition, so we just went with it! We are just "Starkers" 'cos we didn't want to be another "The" band. Once you've been around for a bit a name is just a name and doesn't really have any other meaning.

What is in your CD collection at home?

Everything! The band all have differing tastes in music but mainly guitar bands - Guns 'n Roses, Nirvana, Metallica,Mars Volta, Joy Division, Primus, Strung Out, At the Drive In, Frank Zappa, Rolling Stones, The Strokes, Queens of the Stone Age,The Cult, Foo Fighters The Pixies, Stone Temple Pilots, Sparta, U2, The D4, Sex Pistols, The Libertines.............

What advice would you give other budding musicians/bands?

Work hard, don't get discouraged by rejection or what other people think. If you believe in it other people will too.

About Starkers
