muzic | Who are you favourite musicians/bands that have an influence on your music? |
Epitome | The entire New Zealand music scene at the moment is such an inspiration for us. Bands like Led Zeppelin and Linkin Park. |
muzic | Who would you most like to support live? |
Epitome | Metallica!!! And maybe The Stones but Metallica. |
muzic | How do you describe your sound? |
Epitome | Ummmm, other people have said anything from Audioslave to Silverchair (not so much) and the likes of Nickleback. |
muzic | What do you think you would be doing if you weren't in Epitome? |
Epitome | Anything from Golf to Producing records. |
muzic | What do you think about when you write? |
Epitome | Grant: Writing songs is always on my mind. I just write about day to day stuff, drawing from my personal experiences. |
muzic | I understand that it was you guys that had the idea for the tour. How did you come up with the name? |
Epitome | It was Carl's idea to do a tour, it started out about 8 months ago, and it was just going to be places close to Auckland like Tauranga. It was meant to be small but got a bit bigger than planned. Then Inertia sound and light came on board and it was part of the agreement. But it was a cool name anyway. |
muzic | What have been some of the highlights of the tour? |
Epitome | Stalkers!!! Haha it's weird being followed around. But cool. The first gig at The Mount was awesome. Just being on the road was a highlight in itself. |
muzic | Apart from the stalkers, what was the weirdest thing that happened on tour? |
Epitome | This random guy in Hamilton that just stood there and pointed for like 2 songs. I think he wanted to come up and sing. |
muzic | What can you ever leave home without? |
Epitome | Deodorant. Our Coastlines Clothing. Are we allowed to plug the guys that keep us clothed? |
muzic | Where do you see yourselves in like 5 years. |
Epitome | Oh man. Heaps has happened in our first year that we have really high hopes for the band. In the few years hopefully an Epitome album and radio singles. |
Epitome rock hard. If you want some noise, these guys really impress. With first impressions lasting it won't be long before they have an intense fan base. They are Carl [Drums], Warren [Vocals + Guitar] and Grant [Bass].
Epitome would like to thank Coastlines Clothing, Inertia, and everyone that has helped with the tour and came along.
Epitome was a 4-piece Independent Alternative Grunge Rock band, whose sound has been described as a blend of melodic catchy hooks shredding guitar solo's, heavy cymbals and raw punchy bass. Epitome has a unique sound that they reserve as their own.
Starting out as a 3-piece under the name Dissident the band released its first demo Consequence after being together for 3 months. That in turn lead to a name change and 7-track demo EP entitled Testing The Waters which has now sold out. The EP produced two singles You Will Be Mine and Fade. You Will Be Mine was released as a video and played on C4 music TV and Fade received airplay on B-net stations. Epitome also toured over the summer of 2004 with Mozelee and Fourth Member to promote the release of the EP. The tour was a great success finishing up to a packed house at the Empire Tavern.
Following on from the success of Testing The Waters and with the addition of Sam Kingston on guitar, Epitome recruited Dave Rhodes to produce the new single
