Miscreant - Miscreant Newsletter Interview

22 Jun 2008 // An interview by Shade
Miscreant is a four-piece rock band based in Auckland. After spending six months sweating it out in Studio 203, with acclaimed producer Andrew Buckton, the boys are now ready to launch into the NZ music scene with the release of their Debut Album ‘Complicated Characters’.

The boys have just finished filming the video for their first single off the new album ‘Fight for Me’, and are throwing a kickass release party on Friday the 18th of July @ 420 on K Road.

Miscreant have played at just about every gutter, bar and dingy lounge in and around Auckland to fine tune their rock and have now evolved into one of the countries finest up and coming rock bands. The boys are bringing their tight and catchy tunes and solid live rock performances to you this year with a heap of shows in support of the debut album, due to be released September 2008. Here are their answers to our questions:

What is the best gig/event you have ever performed at, and why?

One show we did on a thursday night at R'toto's in Takapuna will always stick in my head.. we had 300 drunk people going nuts dancing and moshing at a venue that is by no means a rock venue.. the owner pulled the plug half way through the 3rd set as things were getting a bit rowdy!

What is your favourite NZ venue?

The Studio because it's got a great setup

What can we expect to see from Miscreant over the next year?

The Album release, more videos/singles and a nationwide tour!

What other NZ musicians or bands would you like to see more of, and why?

Tahuna Breaks, These Four Walls, The Midnight Youth, Bruce Conlon (ex lead singer of Eight) who's now gone solo, blew me away with one of his recent NZ shows.

If you could, what rumour would you start about yourselves?

That we could be heading to the South Island and Wellington for a few shows before the end of the year...

What advice would you like to give to other aspiring musicians?

Stay positive, never give up, and if it's not fun anymore, stop!
