Who are your favourite NZ musicians/bands, and why?
Crowded House – they are legends in the music industry in NZ and overseas – they have an ability to write exceptionally crafted songs that we really admire.
What is your favourite place in NZ to be?
NZ holds the key to having the perfect FreeDay… sun, beach, BBQ, friends…
What inspired you to start FreeDay?
We have been writing and playing music together for approx. 18 years so the time was right when we were approached by M4U Records to do our first ‘FreeDay’ album.
How did you come up with the name FreeDay?
It all started with a long list of names (hundreds!), but it was a very close friend who saw the name we had written. He pointed at it and said ‘that’s a good one’, then we just realized, yeah, that’s it. FreeDay has so much meaning to it and means something different to everyone we talk to – its great!
How do you keep in contact with your fans?
We keep in touch with our fans in every way possible, really, because our fans are very important to the future of FreeDay… so we are on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, have our own website plus we contact fans via txt and email.
FreeDay is made up of some of the most talented musicians in Aoteroa, first to see the light, Glen and Alexandra have been writing, producing and performing music for over 15 years and have been influenced by all genres of music.
When Auckland based band 'FreeDay' sing about wearing the scars of life on their new self titled album, they mean it literally.
By a twist of destiny lead singer/composer, Glen Donaghy, and his wife Alex were wounded with identical scars on their hands before they even met.
