It took its sweet time, but summer is finally here...

...or at least for now. It seems like in just a couple of hours people were jumping from their long pants and jerseys into light coloured tees and shorts! I was anyway. Now in the beautiful hot sun I clutch a beer and have think about all the things that happened over the past week in the pouring rain and cold.

THE TWITCH! Having taken out first place in the NZ Battle Of The Bands, will be winging their way to Hong Kong in November to compete in the WORLD Finals! They definitely have a spot in my top 5 bands list and with their edgy, quirky, awesome rock; I wish them well in the finals! Try to catch them live before they head off. Check www.thetwitch.cjb.net for more upcoming gig details.

Also this very website, muzic.net.nz, hosted their 5th Birthday gig at The Studio in Auckland last Thursday. Apart from the weather, this show was wicked! A friendly atmosphere and the bands were stoked with the free backstage beers, where the chilly bin just kept on refilling! Huge thanks goes out to Adam and Lisa for putting the show on and coming all the way up from Palmy for the cause!

Servo

Another cutting edge artist from the Hit Your Head Music label. SERVO is a punk/rap MC from Napier who has been doing shows since about a year ago. SERVO has put out an album titled 'Ron Giorgi Park' which is a mix of 80's style drum beats, pop-syth bass and rap delivered hard edge punk vocals.

Which NZ artist/band do you think will be a huge international success one day?

I'll choose three... 1 - The Clerics, noise traps band from Hamilton, they're the next Scribe. 2 - Tempo 38, that's my band and we kick ass hard out. and 3 - anything on Wax Museum Records, with the exception of Mike Crook.

Who would you most like to tour with?

Skrewdriver feat. SERVO
With Guests...
Geto Boyz feat. SERVO

What is your most embarrassing concert moment?

Don't really have any, I make a point of getting pissed before a show to increase my chances but so far no blow outs. I came close at one gig...was doin' a set at my mates wedding and the best man reckoned I was was too pissed so he switched off my beats and told me to get off, I took his beer and pushed him off the stage then finished my set, it (Servo)seems to be a love/hate thing.

What are you planning on doing during the next year?

Will be putting out another record early next year on Hit Your Head Music & Wax Museum Records. It will probably be an EP, 4 or 5 tracks and maybe with a band, do a video, and a trip to the hot pools in Taupo would be sweet.

How did you come up with the name Servo?

Service Station

What is in your CD collection at home?

Ice Cube, Morbid Angel, 4 Skins, Herbs, Tough, WHAM!, GG Allin, OMC and Elvis.

What advice would you give other budding musicians/bands?

It's better to do something 'shit' that's good for what it is than to try and do something 'good' that doesn't cut it.

Diefenbacker

Which NZ artist/band do you think will be a huge international success one day?

Redmore

Who would you most like to tour with?

The Subways

What is your most embarrassing concert moment?

Was playing a festival in the UK a few years ago on a really hot day... got pretty sweaty up there and ended up electrocuting myself!

What are you planning on doing during the next year?

Releasing a single and video in November to precede an ep release early next year. Hopefully touring NZ in summer but will be doing plenty of other shows before then.

How did you come up with the name Diefenbacker?

It's the name of the white dog in the show "Due South" .... I think he was named after a former Canadian prime minister (John Diefenbaker).

What is in your CD collection at home?

My home collections pretty big but in my car at the moment are: The Subways - Young For Eternity, Maximo Park - A Certain Trigger, Pluto - Pipeline Under the Ocean, Razorlight - Up All Night, Bloc Party - Silent Alarm, Arcade Fire - Funeral

What advice would you give other budding musicians/bands?

Enjoy it and stick with it.
