These Four Walls - The Walls Fall Down...

22 Feb 2006 // A review by Shade
Passion, Force, Intensity, Creativity, Originality, Clarity, Commitment, Ability and Talent… everything the members of These Four Walls have brought to their music and to their fans over the past 15 months…
but sadly, earlier today – an announcement was made by the band – that they are officially going their separate ways to pursue new ventures.

From the beginning – These Four Walls made a hard hitting impact on the local music circuit, with their high energy shows and ‘highly charged rock’ - that without fail – left a crowd wanting more. Not only have they participated in New Zealand World Battle of The Bands heats and the New Zealand finals, but they have had opportunities to perform at some of Auckland’s top venues, Massey University Orientation gigs, and the AK05 Festival.

It is a sad loss for the local NZ music scene - These Four Walls are an exceptional group of musicians and we wish nothing but all the best to each of them … but keep an ear and an eye out…. This isn’t the last you’ll hear of Steve, Gray, Spencer, Josh, and Christopher…

Rock On...

About These Four Walls

These Four Walls are a hard rock band originally formed in Auckland, New Zealand and now based on Queensland’s Gold Coast. They’ve recorded and released two full-length albums, Down Falls an Empire (2009) and Living to Write the End (2012), with their third album This Is Not A Future due for release on 24 April, 2020.

The band are well-known in both Australia and New Zealand for their live shows, which are typically tight, heavy and high-powered performances punctuated by powerful melodic vocals from singer Steve Gibb. Their well-earned reputation as a powerhouse live act has earned the band support slots for several touring international acts including Disturbed (USA), Nickelback (CAN), Trivium (USA), Seether (SA), P.O.D. (USA), Fuel (USA), Theory of A Deadman (CAN) and Trapt (USA), as well as top Australian rock acts Karnivool and The Butterfly Effect, and Kiwi bands such as Devilskin and Blacklistt.

Maggie Cocco's Science for Sociopaths - Gig Review: Maggie Cocco @ Lopdell Theatre, Tititrangi - 22/11/2023
27 Nov 2023 // by Shade
Whatever came out of the pandemic, it stranded some amazing talent here long enough for them to enrich our musical world. Down into the Lopdell labyrinth, a buzz of age-spanning expectancy waited for two of these: Maggie Cocco and her accompanist for the tour Bonnie Schwarz who would add much more than just ‘sad cello’ to tonight’s epic cycle of piano songs.

Eve Kelly @ Jam Factory, Tauranga - 03/03/2023
08 Mar 2023 // by Shade
The ‘Sold Out’ sign is a good sign and it went up several days before Eve Kelly’s first show at The Jam Factory in Tauranga’s Historic Village. Whakatane-based Eve Kelly is a star on-the-rise and she put on a show that left her audience, old and new, elated and begging for more.

Coridian - Single Review: Seed II
21 Oct 2020 // by Shade
There's an implicit line in Rock music between the head-banging craze that makes you want to raid the mosh pit, and the refined preciseness of a subtle yet powerful tune. Very few bands can master both.
