Beach - Album Review: Beach

30 Nov -0001 // A review by Shade
Fronted by the soulful voice of Jessie Coutts and with music by Mathurin Mogat, Iain McNally, Paul Pasmore and Randy Cooke, Beach is New Zealand music with a difference. The music is warm, mellow and soothing - designed with the soul in mind. The sound of the South Pacific.

Beach's show sold out at the prestigious NXNE Festival in Toronto, Canada - and it was this place that they decided to record this album. It was mixed at New Zealand's very own York Street Studios.

This album will truly surprise you.

About Beach

Beach was formed in 1998 by it’s two principal songwriters, Jessie Coutts and Mathurin Molgat.

Cool summer grooves and beats, melodic sounds from New Zealand. The beach sound is warm and smooth, lyrically intelligent grooves with a South Pacific flavour.

"...a warm breeze blows through this debut album by New Zealand band "beach". Beautiful melodies from sexy vocalist Jessie Coutts whose voice soars through 11 finely crafted songs supported by stellar musicianship. Subtle hints of Morcheeba. "4stars+" - Brendan Jimminey - Sounds Alive

Eve Kelly @ Jam Factory, Tauranga - 03/03/2023
08 Mar 2023 // by Shade
The ‘Sold Out’ sign is a good sign and it went up several days before Eve Kelly’s first show at The Jam Factory in Tauranga’s Historic Village. Whakatane-based Eve Kelly is a star on-the-rise and she put on a show that left her audience, old and new, elated and begging for more.

Coridian - Single Review: Seed II
21 Oct 2020 // by Shade
There's an implicit line in Rock music between the head-banging craze that makes you want to raid the mosh pit, and the refined preciseness of a subtle yet powerful tune. Very few bands can master both.

The opening lyrics set the scene well for this charming little number - "I can't help but wonder is this the only way? Get so caught up in the drama that we forget to play.
