The Rock and Roll Machine - Debut Self Titled Album

After a bad Rock and Roll Machine gig experience, their self titled debut album came as a very, very pleasant release. After receiving their album, I haven’t taken it out of my stereo since, and has been played a hundred times since then. It’s one of those albums that when everybody knows it, they love it! You want to play it again and again, sing along, air guitar along, air drum along, and go generally nuts to it.
The album has been mixed quite well, which enables the face melting solos to prevail without losing all other instrumental values. This in turn makes for a much more playable album.
Each song leads into the other very well, with a consistent predominating sound to each song. My personal favourite would have to be ‘Animal’. I can’t refrain from moving my head when I listen to it. The guitars are so raw and in your face, and the screaming vocals combined, create a song which cannot be missed. The ending of this song is just perfect! The bells were a perfect addition to the feeling of the song, and create a lot of depth to the powerful riff.
It’s hard to say what their influences may have been, but ‘Slave’ particularly reminded of Tool, but definitely had Rock and Roll Machine written all over it.
It’s always a pleasant change when I listen to an album where it is obvious the band have stayed true to their sound and produced an album which they are passionate about and has a sound which screams raw talent to the world.
Look out for The Rock and Roll Machine, as I wouldn’t be surprised if you see more of them in the future.

About The Rock and Roll Machine
Paul was replaced in 2002 by Rich Mixture (Shaft, The D4) and the band toured Australia, the US and the UK. The Rock n Roll Machine has toured with The White Stripes and Dead Moon and played with the likes of Guitar Wolf, The Dirt Bombs and The MC5.
