JCK - Long White Cloud

27 Jun 2007 // A review by jck2

your flow sounds real dated, the lyrics are ok, you need to work on your syllables, you're stretching to hit the beat. has frat boy rap written all over it. the mix is rough, also too much mid/lows, not enough highs. the hook is really annoying to me, the rhythm is really repetitive and the voice you do is not pleasant. sorry bro. drums are ok, better than some. mood is just not there for me (well, the beat is moody). sequencing was average

not bad
has that rock feel to it, not many can pull that off good but this song did. Good subject matter. Sequencing is excellent, but the hook kind of throws off the mood. Drums fit the song.

keep up the good work
wow this track is tight vocals tempo melody is cool laid back you can just chill to.

Good!!
Really good over all!! Cool lyrics!! I like what your doing here...here is my constructive criticism:

-The beat is very quiet, not very powerful
-Seems like great care was taken in the sound of the voice....relax, let up and flow with it a little more, it seems "forced" if that makes any sense
-Keep up the good work!

Message
I respect the fact that you are not rapping about bullshit. I like the message. I like the vocals there delivered well w a great tone. I am not the biggest fan of the hook. I would like a different hook. Still all in all you got a fan in me.
- slipsicknot from Birmingham, Alabama on 8Apr2007

Painful
This sounds pretty unfinished and flat, kind of like a demo rather than a finished piece. I'm waiting for this to go somewhere but it doesn't. The rapping is not that great either.

Drums: Too much in the background and not as powerful as they could be
Mood: Not existing
Sequencing: Kind of all over the place...needs lots of work

All I can say is that this is pretty painful to listen to.

Western Child
Drums - Mediocre...

Mood - puts me in a mad mood...Rage against the machine type...

Sequencing - Good sequencing, I would use a little quantize on the beat
- ThaOriginaCnote from Tempe, Arizona on 6Apr2007

depress me with the thought
I found the mood depressing but I did like the vocal hook or chorus the mood is set with the lyric and the music in which I'm sure your after but hey if you put a silver lining in that nuke cloud I would of liked it better

- YOUNGNHEARTLESS from Atlanta, Georgia on 4Apr2007

What?
This is horrible. Over and over. Again and again. And the chorus just put the nail in the coffin.
- PharoahStreets from Cleveland, Ohio on 3Apr2007

The new millennium
The drums on this track are cool, nice mood and melody, the entire arrangement is kind of choppy as a hole needs more time spent on overall vocal arrangement and delivery, the sequence is pretty solid and well done! Good Job!! "J" www.legendquestrecords.com

Ok Beat and lyrics match to set mood
Drums are ok but could use improvement maybe try a different instrument to do similar effect.

Beat and lyrics are on point to set the overall mood. Mood overall is too depressing and political for my personal taste.

very conscious
The song is great, I really like the concept. People need to hear things like this every once in a while in order to keep them aware of what's really going on. That being said....

1. The DRUMS are on point, has that old school DJ Premier feel. They sound very authentic, like the producer actually played the drums.

2. The MOOD is a little bit chilling. It kind of makes you a little hopeless, but at the same time this is the correct mood to portray in order for the listener to get the message.

3. The SEQUENCING is pretty good, there are a few times (1-2) when you peak. Other than that it sounds good to me.

Good song, keep it up. I would love to hear more of this.

Track is OK
I feel where you going with the track. The beat needs to be more musical. I feel the concept. Track is OK
- jondo9 from Tulsa, Oklahoma on 28Mar2007

dark political rap ummm!
feeling the lyrics, the beats not bad something you might bump in your car more than in the club some potential for hit status tighten up the beat.
- EUGOD from Marietta, Georgia on 27Mar2007

Industrial groove
Original lyrics, smooth flow in and out of base beat. Needs clarification on meaning of white cloud and place in the flow of things but nice sound.
- melvin_j11 from North West, Florida on 26Mar2007

ur song
1-drums are fine. nice lil bump/ knock to 'em, lil repetitive in some parts but not a big problem.

2-mood is dark. matches the flows on each verse. lyrics are different, like MC's who take risks. this isn't a typical rap song...more meaning to it and purpose.

3-sequencing is fine. track works man. don't sweat that at all. the arrangement works for the overall sound (verse/ chorus/ verse, etc.).
- TripleNickels35 from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 26Mar2007

the production is quite rough!!!
I find this track quite boring but that's not to say that you cant rap.
I feel the beat doesn't help try scraping that 1 and use something a bit more professional. keep trying .
- DYellZ from Nw London, United Kingdom on 26Mar2007

Your song....
1. Drums...
Drums are ok. Decent at best. Not really a dominant drum loop that defines hip-hop songs.

2. Mood...
Mood is confrontational to me. It sounds like your angry about something. However your not really talking about anything. This is more a song to display your ability to rhyme. Not your ability to get across main points of view. In other words focus more on your storyline and less on your lyrics. After you got a storyline then go back and change lyrics up then to match song.

3. Sequencing...
Sequencing is decent but nothing to jump up and down about. The arrangement is the way it should be.
