I had the absolute pleasure of being invited along to see Eqwanox perform live at The Royal in Palmerston North on 12 June 2010, and I was more than impressed with the Waikato boys tight and epic performance. Not only were their songs inspirational, with lyrics that many of us could relate to, but what I saw that night was so compelling and memorable, I find myself wanting to tell the world about them.
It isn't very often that I come across a band like this - an outstanding band that does more than deliver. More than two weeks later, I'm still amped up about their gig and since then, their debut album 'All Roads Lead From Here' has been on continuous replay on my mp3 player and in my car.
Their songs are catchy and edgy, and should appeal to a large audience. From the videos on their YouTube page, you can tell they are already hugely popular, and this doesn't surprise me.
Eqwanox say "they are driven to succeed, yet determined to have fun in the process, and have had the attitude 'Don't wait for things to happen, make things happen' since they began six years ago" and this is evident in their well-rehearsed songs. Eqwanox showcase a driving force rarely seen in much of today's music, and I believe they have the talent and potential to be the next huge act to come out of NZ.
10/10 - Highly recommended

"The band strings together tight gripping melodies and strong vocals/backing vocals and produced one outrageously great album" – Muzic.net.nz
"I like the name Eqwanox, it’s spelt differently and that’s what you need, something that’s different from the rest so you can market the idea" - GILBY CLARKE (Guns N Roses//Rockstar Supernova)
