Eerie, haunting, beautiful… Three words that perfectly describe my first impression of this album.
Diamond Sutra is a female fronted electronic rock band to rival Evanescence and Lacuna Coil, the riffs are heavier and groovier, the beats are catchier and the vocals give me chills.
Throughout this Album the focus tends to lean towards the amazing vocal range and talents of their lead singer, and the heavy grinding grooves laid down by the bass and guitars pull it up to another level. Although I have never been the biggest fan of electronic infusion I have to say it works for these guys, it adds an ambience to the music that would make the music feel as though it was missing something without it.
There’s a little bit of me that’s having flashbacks to the movie “Queen Of The Damned” as I listen, not necessarily in a Jason Davis/ Aaliyah kind of way, more the general all round feel of the movie, but that’s just me I guess you’ll have to grab a copy for yourselves and make up your own minds, and on that note, did I mention they’re also giving away their E.P for free on Bandcamp? Get it here!
Diamond Sutra is a musical experiment in alternative electronic rock. Guitars, voice, synths and bass. Tracey-Lynne also performs with Rinst.
