Cephalopod are for me a band that manages to meld two worlds together, infectious and catchy, groove and technical, brutal and insightful… and all at the same time while still remaining raw and honest, what more can a guy ask for?
I can’t find a song on this album I don’t like, but if you were to ask me which are my favourites I would have to say Mechanics Of Deceit and The Grey.
With what could almost be described as a “compressed” sound to the recordings I can’t help but reminisce to my early teens listening to metal on my cassette player, and while it may not have the pure force of their live show I still find myself head banging at the computer uncontrollably as there is absolutely no denying the passion and ability that comes with everything these guys do together.
I actually find it kinda hard to pinpoint a subgenre on cephalopod, so if that’s what you’re looking for your outta luck… throw in a bucket of technical ability, a bucket of catchy riffage, a bucket of brutal and a nice big bucket of awesome and whatever you have in your cup is pure cephalopod, now shut up and drink it.
Forming in late 2010 and debuting live in Jan 2011 we have now played over 20 shows at various venues in the lower North Island.
