Bakers Eddy - EP Review: Plastic Wasteland
Bakers Eddy hail from Windy Wellington, and their debut EP has just landed to my awaiting ears.
Plastic Wasteland shows the capabilities of a young band who have worked solidly to become a tightly oiled machine with infectious riffs, melodies and flair.Plastic Wasteland is only a short three song EP and I’m gutted, because it is simply sublime.
Vocalist and Guitarist, Ciarann Babbington sings with clarity and strength, already sounding like a polished musician beyond his years, vocally and lyrically, with a maturity that I haven’t heard in long time in such a young band.
Any good music should spill passion and enthusiasm and Bakers Eddy show no shortage of either.
The first track, Plastic Wasteland is a phenomenal burst of energy, layers of melody and everything you want and expect to hear. It’s definitely a stand out track for me. Something Outside, the band’s first single from the EP, is equally as punchy and hard hitting and a song that would definitely get the crowd going.
Closing off with Hyper Excessive Consumption, it’s an assault of angst perfection. It’s hard, it’s raw and it's captivating.
Bakers Eddy have managed to create something truly exciting for NZ Rock and I cannot wait to see their progression.
