Auckland newcomers, BigBomBo are Rock n Roll titans with a Spanish flair. Their debut five track EP recorded earlier this year is an eclectic medley of great riffs and melody that is infectious, leaving your head bobbing and toes tapping.
Bassist/Vocalist, Ivan De Los Santos has such a strong voice that is crisp and perfect for BigBomBo’s sound. First track, Revelations is a perfect EP opener. It really grabs your attention because it takes every inch to try and stop wanting to groove to it.
The Leftovers of a Song Inside of You is next up and is definitely a stand out track for me. That crunchy stop start riff and vocals are so damn catchy. This song is a definite must on repeat and I can imagine how much it goes off live!
Prop, Waves and M.A.V are the last three tracks of the EP, but not to be forgotten. The pop rock n roll medley of these track take their rightful place here, with M.A.V sung entirely in Spanish, a unique little twist to this band. If you keep listening after M.A.V has finished, a quirky Spanish flamenco style instrumental appears out of nowhere. Upon learning that it is guitarist, Gabriel Cuello’s father, and a track that he had recorded back in 1978, well I’m impressed, talent obviously runs in the family.
A great sounding band and one to look out for in the near future!
