A superbly crafted album that is emotional and powerful. Tablefox are a five-piece rock band skilfully blending elements of indie, folk and pop to create in what I can only describe as a brilliant debut album. It’s not a rarity to produce a great debut album or even a great first EP for many emerging bands and artists, but it does take great musicianship to create one, and in a nutshell, this is what Tablefox have achieved.
Having previously listened to the band’s first two singles off the album, Something Better and New World, I’ll admit being put on the spot, it gave me somewhat of a preconceived idea at first as indie rock can be hit or miss at times. Any doubts I had vanished pretty quick upon receiving the album and then realising I had put the album on repeat for a third time and fourth time.
Tablefox have made an album will appeal to anyone who enjoys great music, because that is exactly what it is. A polished sound, lyrically captivating, it literally is a journey for the listener. As a whole, I found no weak link. Every instrument rings clear and with meaning and to hear songs that can captivate emotion on so many levels such as Cigarette Glow, which I found to be one of my favourites. It’s literally beautiful.
Objects is going to the perfect accompaniment for the coming Summer afternoons with a beer in your hand, whether it be streamed, on CD or Live. On that note, I have yet to see Tablefox live but I can guarantee at least a dozen new followers by the end of their sets. If you haven’t already picked up the album, I implore that you do because this is an album worth having.
After a massive last few years playing shows with the likes of James, The Charlatans, City Calm Down and The Feelers, Kiwi rock 4-piece Tablefox return with the lead single from their third album Battles.
Recorded by Scott Seabright Productions and mastered by Ryan Smith (AC/DC, Greta Van Fleet) at Sterling Sound. Burning Bridges was released on July 27, 2021, with the album Battles landing on July 30th. A stonking track that opens the new album and signifies everything about the last few years for the band.
