Jason McIver is one of those prolific, yet relatively unknown homegrown artists that deserve a lot more attention. Rocking the whole Chino Moreno (Deftones) look, it’s one of those cases of animal resembling owner, or in this case, voice resembling famous lookalike.
Let’s just say if Moreno’s side project was pop/rock than dreamy post-rock, then McIver’s new single with The Jason McIver Collective, Stoney Joe would pass for a Team Sleep single.
Throw a bit of Oasis on cocaine and that’s probably the best description of this Pop/Rock summer time anthem, riding in high on the crest of that returning tide of 90’s revivalist sound that the world has been longing for. This is the kind of music we’ve been missing, and here’s hoping Stoney Joe is an accurate representation of what to expect from Jason McIver’s in the future.
Stoney Joe will be released December 15th on iTunes and Amplifier. For more from Jason McIver, check out his Soundcloud page.
Also watch out for the upcoming Stoney Joe music video from Aiden Otene Dickens’ (Illuminus) Illuminate Productions.
The Jason McIver Collective have released two highly praised and charting albums since 2015 and in 2019 that catalogue will continue to expand.
After moving bases from Auckland to Taupo Jason refreshed the line-up, featuring original bassist Si Folkard moving to lead guitar/vocals, bassist John Curtis and drummer Andrew Marshall.
The music explores the many emotions and movements occurring in life and celebrates a diverse scope of song writing.
