Born Silence suffered for their pursuit of art, like many do, losing members to the fight against the weekly 9 to 5.
What started as a band, soon devolved into a solo project and sprouted a “d”.
Not one to lie down and take it, ever industrious Rich Kenny, also releasing under the Kaushun moniker, managed to pull the band back together to finish what they stated.
You could almost say The Hate Is With You EP was a project ten years in the making.
The The Hate Is With You EP is a mix of Metal-core and Electronica, more than it is Metal-core with Electronica elements, with a sound similar to middle period Crackpot Theory albums.
There are times where signs of the solo project period still shine through the restrained chaos that is Metal-core, with the orchestral flourishes of intro track 2006(66) III and at the end of Take You Away, as well as the Dubstep breakdown of For You.
It was a wise decision to choose reimagining and reworking three tracks from the full band’s eponymous 2005 release, as opposed to coming together to write a new batch of songs. The reworkings show how much the band has developed over the past ten years.
It’s a good starting point for a reunion of sorts. Hopefully now it’s time for the band to work on new material together.
Whether this is a sign of more to come from a full band, or if this is a one-off reunion one thing is certain; this isn’t the last we’ve heard from Rich Kenny.
