Devilskin - Album Review: Be Like The River
Devilskin are back and
sounding more ferocious than before.
Be Like The River is their new album, due for nationwide release on 11th November. It is a slab of unapologetic fury that we have all come to know and love about Devilskin.
Thirteen blistering
tracks of raw power, mind blowing riffs, face melting vocals tinged with melody
and beauty sums up the album in a nutshell.
If you’ve seen Devilskin live (and I like to think that nearly all of NZ has at some point) ,you’ll know exactly the kind of power they possess. They’re loud and leave you fixated and breathless. Hearing them on CD or vinyl gives you that same feeling, only more intensified as you can listen repeatedly.
From the appropriately bogan named opening track, In Black a sure crowd mosh-tastic assault on the ears, to the chunky bass driven melodic, Animal and the head spinning out of control, House 13 that is going to break faces live.
Everything is ten times louder and ten times more refined than We Rise, in the best way possible.
When you come across a band like Devilskin who exceed any expectations that may surround them, they just go from strength to strength and leave others trailing in a cloud of dust.
The sheer force of unity they have has only grown in their musicianship over the years and relentless touring has only helped to reinforce that.
Exciting times ahead for Devilskin, 2017 will be another epic year and Be Like The River will quickly become another fan favourite, get ready to get your hand on it!
About Devilskin
Jennie previously fronted Rotorua band Slipping Tongue garnering a swathe of fans with their videos, EPs and album. Slipping Tongue also impressed many when they opened for Coheed & Cambria in 2008.
On lead guitar is Nail from the popular Waikato band Chuganaut who won the NZ Battle of the Bands and the World Battle Of The Bands in 2004. Played BDO in 2005 and opened for Iron Maiden at Mt Smart stadium in 2009. Chuganaut has played numerous national tours and released several singles, EP’s, videos and an album. Nail's searing guitar work and high energy performance bring real intensity to the live show. Nail also performs with Beckoned.
