Going Nowhere (Faster
Than You) is the debut album from UK born, Auckland based musician, Kenington.
A slab of pure honesty and melody is laced throughout the eleven tracks coupled with refined lyrical ability gives this album a soft and quite beautiful feel. Predominately indie, mixed with part folk, part rock and pop gives Kenington a unique sound quality and the production is seamless.
Opening track, Walking The Line is stand out for its heavy soft dynamic of strong percussion (drums) and has more of a rock edge with vocals so soft, it reminds me very much of Daniel Johns (ex Silverchair) vocal style.
Diamond Ring is a beautiful acoustic number with a soft rock edge, it’s equally mellow and mesmerising.
Further along, Is it any Wonder is simply stunning with a piano accompaniment that is light and filled with that harmonious melody found on every track.
Kenington sings with positivity and you get a visceral picture as each song begins and ends. It’s inspiring and in his own words, “this collection of songs are reflections about dreams morphing into an energetic reality that fails to meet our expectations.” This album translates that perfectly and is perfect with anyone inspired by storytelling in music.
If you’re a fan of crunchy guitar pop riffs and soft melody with a Brit indie feels, this album is for you.

Kenington grew up listening to his mother playing the baby grand and wearing out old ELO and Adam and the Ants LPs.
Moving to NZ in 2004, Kenington adopted the Kiwi 'give it a go' attitiude and took up singing, guitar and piano lessons. He honed his songwriting skills and began frequenting open mic evenings.
