"Introducing
Dissent, the stunning new single by New Zealand heavy rock act Primacy".
These are the opening words of the press release to describe
Primacy's, a popular band from West Auckland, up and coming new single release. Stunning is the perfect descriptive word for this, impressive and formidable are another two I may add, or just plain awesome.
Dissent is a tantalising teaser of what Primacy have in store for us with their eagerly anticipatd EP, following on from the bands first EP
Failure And Sacrifice, which was released almost one year ago and was met with huge enthusiasm, shooting to number 13 on the NZ album charts.
I will proceed to enlighten you as to why this single is so awesome.
This is a song with big warm drum beats, and incredible guitar riffs bringing to mind Tool
, yes it is that good and I haven't begun to describe Jason Mciver's (yep this is the same dude from the slightly more laid back The Jason McIver Collective) lovely melodic vocals that perhaps ease you into the track, you may or may not be aware of what's coming when that "in your face" guttural growl which he has perfected kicks in. His range is very impressive. All of these elements combine to make magic.
Thrash metal, heavy rock or what ever you choose to call it, this is brilliance.
So if you want to sit down to a nice cup of tea and unwind with a good book and soothing whale sounds, than step away, because this is not for you.
Dissent needs to be played on the radio here, there and everywhere.
Primacy are multi talented, professional and loud. Their latest single will hit you straight between the eyes and seep into your brain. Good luck getting it out.
