Ghost Who Walks - Single Review: Vertigo

Ghost Who Walks is the
brilliance of Wellington born Guitarist, Singer and Songwriter Sam Fowles, backed by his band who play under the
moniker, ‘The Ghost’
Ghost Who Walks are straight up funky blues with a host of influences ranging from Jimi Hendrix, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Sublime. Combined with a heavy, tight rhythm section and reggae and rock overtones and you have the perfect blend that moves the mind, soul, and more importantly, the body.
Vertigo is the newest single from their impending EP release and it's so groovy and funk driven, you can’t help but get a little boogie on while listening. Sam's vocals have an easy, upbeat pitch, radiating happiness and warmth, with relatable lyrics of creating your own destiny, a listener can resonate more with that kind of lyrical sensibility. This is music that makes you feel.
With a single like Vertigo, you not only get a glimpse of the band’s sound, but the kind of energy that must radiate from their live shows. Infectious yet soulful, Ghost Who Walks is music for everyone and I look forward to their upcoming EP. Watch this

Ghost Who Walks is a project started by Sam Fowles, backed by his band that is homegrown in Wellington. Formed from the vibrant jam scene of Wellington open mic nights. Combining elements of Blues, Funk, Rock and Reggae, sprinkled with psychedelic overtones. Ghost Who Walks has rocked many a venue in the Wellington live scene with funky originals that Sam writes from the perspective of someone who has seen struggles, overcome and risen above them. Straight after their inception they cut their teeth into the Battle of the Bands progressing to the national final before spending the next year honing their sound ready to record with the Dr Lee Prebble at Surgery Studios Wellington.
