Ivy Red - Single Review: Absent
Absent opens the darkest parts of IVY RED's mind, and definitely meets the intent of what he is attempting to portray with his music - emotional, deep and raw. There is no sugar coating in his music or the lyrics, making this a poignant track, which is definitely not for the faint-hearted.
While this song has a Post Malone vibe to it, it feels different to the majority of the mainstream RnB songs currently heard on the radio. IVY RED describes his music as "crystal grunge RnB", and that description fits Absent well. The melody of this song lends itself to an enigmatic tune with especially dark lyrics.
The lyrics show a lot of pain by asking "Would you love me if I died right now?" and hearing the response being, "She said she love me for the music and the cocaine". The raw emotions that Absent provokes will attract a like-minded audience.
Absent has relatable lyrics, and many people will feel a connection to IVY RED through this track. There's a certain amount of empathy and understanding displayed throughout the song, making the audience feel as though they are not alone, regardless of what their struggles may be.
