Opening with a formidable power riff this debut track from Christchurch based Etheran really grabs you by the throat, and it's a track that has many shades. The strong melodic verses that are sung by the clean voice of lead singer Lita Macabeo is smooth and wholesome, whereas the chorus sections burst with scolding vocals and a burst of drums that lifts the power and emotion with great intensity.
After the power chorus we fall back to the tuneful verses sung by Lita, with nice segments that harmonise effortlessly to a guitar lick. These pockets of gentrified passages lead perfectly to the more metal inspired sections that ultimately takes us back to the awesome guitar riff that started the track.
All in all, it’s a thoughtful and unique mix of styles that works surprisingly well, undoubtedly a killer song live, so turn it up and check it out.
Etheran was formed in 2016 by Wade Sloper while he was attending Jazz School in Christchurch. Wade brought in Travis Brett following his time at Vision College (Chch NZ) and upon meeting Isaac Peneha at Jazz School promptly enlisted his services.
After jamming in a bedroom for about 6 months Lita Macebeo, a friend of all 3 members was brought in to handle vocal duties and following a year of polishing and writing songs the band started actively gigging in the Christchurch scene in mid 2018.
