Georgia Lines - Single Review: Vacant Cities

18 Feb 2019 // A review by Corinne Rutherford

Georgia Lines aka George is a bit of a local treasure I wasn’t aware of. Based in Mt Maunganui, George has just released her catchy debut single Vacant Cities, accompanied by a stunning music video which is a visual work of art.

Singer/songwriter George has been around for a few years, winning the SmokeFree RockQuest back in 2014 while in her last year at high school. Although she has not released anything since then, George has developed her sound and style and the result is stunning.

There is a maturity beyond her years reflected in Vacant Cities. The song is smooth, groovy pop with profound harmonious lyrics. She has a beautifully melodic voice which would appeal to a diverse range of people.

George is among the ranks of many talented young musicians which the SmokeFree RockQuest has brought to light. Her sound is clean and entirely marketable. The artistic flare reflected in her video, demonstrates originality and out of the box thinking.

I am keen to watch her progression as she evolves. Recommended listening.
