Paige - Single Review: Bloom

03 Oct 2019 // A review by Ben Ruegg

Paige’s new song Bloom is like a throwback to some of the best RnB songs from the 2000's while still maintaining a modern feel to it thanks to its slick production.

Tight vocals are front and centre here, but do not let that get in way to hear the exceptional instrumental track in the back. Just like any good song should, this track allows the listener to settle in and enjoy the track while also giving the listener reason to come back again.

Paige’s vocal is one of the reason the track glows. Silky smooth vocal takes us on a journey. The words "Till I bloom" finish up the chorus melody nicely, and it is catchy as hell.

Bloom is a perfectly crafted pop song that is heavily influenced by tasty RnB traits.

About Paige

Growing up in an overly connected world of crowded voices battling for space, there is a unique challenge for up and coming Generation Z artists as they attempt to break through the white noise. It is a world uncharted by previous generations, left to be navigated by the young, creative and the bold. In 2016, Paige, a young singer-songwriter from Auckland, New Zealand opened up her window to the bluescreened universe and her life was forever changed.

With her infamous YouTube channel Paige’s Space and a humble acoustic guitar, Paige uploaded covers of songs that permeated a generation, to eventually sharing originals with her growing fan base. Releasing a debut EP On My Own in 2017, Paige marked her arrival in the music industry. In 2018 she released the singles So Far and Alignments which made waves in the streaming world, then found herself collaborating with fellow Kiwis, Balu Brigada (Slow Dive) and JessB (So Low) while opening for the likes of Nina Nesbitt, George Ezra, Drax Project and Six60.

Teaming up with producers Josh Fountain and Djeisan Suskov (two parts of Kiwi supergroup Leisure), Paige is now set to release a new EP Let Me Grow, a love letter to the coming of age and becoming your most authentic self. Bursting open with the cathartic Cold Blooded, Let Me Grow dives into acceptance and unconditional love, strong themes carried throughout the 6-track offering. Keeping things refined with an acoustic guitar in hand, with deep grooves and minimal added production, Paige lets her internal dialogue speak to love, life, navigating relationships and sexuality.
