Singer songwriter Georgia Lines, previously known as George, just released her single Same Things. From the beginnings of her exposure, Georgia’s music has had nothing but an upward flight. Winning the Smokefree Rockquest in 2014 whilst still a high school student, later releasing her stellar debut single Vacant Cities in February 2019, accompanied by a brilliantly shot and artistically cut above music video, Georgia’s talent has been on a clear rise and for all the right reasons.
This song is easily another chronicle summer hit all about the game of love, making up one’s mind and not running away from something good. Leaving the old let-go-of and the new beheld, why wouldn’t you hype this feeling? Just like the nosedive into her new voyage with music, this song is about going for it and making fear a bygone.
Same Things is a very well-produced track with attention to fine detail, giving us instant appeal. As well as production, the track has a large emphasis on mixing and vocal layers that build and fill without being too much. The track has a rich bassline and unfolds Georgia’s impressive vocal range until the chorus booms. About 47 seconds in, we’re struck and the beat gives way to what clearly lives up to the name of “pop perfection”.
Each moment is definitely magic. Out now on major streaming outlets with a graciously visual music video; viewable here.
One of the true rising stars of the New Zealand music scene, Georgia Lines' voice, charisma and songwriting chops are fast winning audiences across the motu. After releasing a steady stream of music since 2019, Lines signalled her arrival amongst the upper echelon of local artists with her 2022 EP Human, which debuted at No 3 on the NZ Top 40 and spawned a successful nationwide tour.
Soulful, dreamlike vocals and distinctive feel-good, R&B-sprinkled pop songs provide Lines with a sound that's quickly becoming unmissable.
