For a starter, I’ve got to say 80's and 90's inspired hair metal really isn’t my thing, however, just with any other genre, when it’s done incredibly well, it is always going to be good.
Michael Signal is an extremely talented composer and player, and on his latest single Who U R his abilities shine like polished diamonds on fine bone china. Michael is joined on this track by Tommy Paris, vocalist/guitarist from American platinum rock band Britny Fox.
The song opens up like a carcass after it has been met by a person wielding a fast working blade in an abattoir, and that is a very good thing.
If I had one complaint about Who U R, it's that it is too short, at a shade over 2 minutes in duration (2:19), and it has a brutally quick fade out. I could totally forgive the shortness of the song if it had a big rock finish, but after such a technically proficient onslaught the rapid fade goes down too fast. Bluntly put, it’s a flaccid ending.
Nonetheless, even if hair metal isn't really your thing either I still implore you to give this song a listen. Michael and Tommy are tight and complement each other well. Who U R is a skilful and expert piece of work and it's worth giving it some of your attention.
