Georgia Lines - EP Review: Georgia Lines

27 Mar 2020 // A review by Gaby Ivanov-Giraldo

Today on the 27th of March, Georgia Lines is releasing her debut EP. Since the start of Georgia’s journey with music, she has been on an upward rise. After winning the SmokeFree RockQuest in her last year of high school, she has received a steady amount of exposure which has helped her reveal herself as an artist. Her music has trademarked itself, thus far, as deeply moving and creative.

Georgia likes to write candid stories about what’s currently happening in her life and share her excitement about releasing music. This EP is her perfect chance to write about her discovery as an artist, and also what kind of morals and ideas play a role in her new expression with music. Georgia has developed her own aesthetic, artistic image and performance style, which is fine lined, yet colourful and emotive. Her album artwork draws inspiration from minimalist art forms. Such origins of this stencil art can trace back to French modern artist Alexander Calder; beautifully simplistic yet bold.

The five track EP features the following songs: Same ThingsMade For LovingNever Had LoveVacant Cities and My Love.

Each track is luscious and very well-produced. Same Things opens up the album, giving us her summer sweetness with a warm dedication to the crazed feeling of new love. Georgia has a stunningly powerful voice that runs deep through every track and is accessorised by many flavoursome pop elements. Made For Loving is a real dance-inducing, pick-me-up with remnants of 80’s disco and older Michael Jackson. Never Had Love has a finger-clicking opening with a fun R&B groove. This song’s lyrics are genuine and relatable. Georgia’s concepts in her music speak upfront to many who feel are in a state of budding and shines a light on future spontaneity in many of her themes. Vacant Cities is a true favourite. This song is ravishingly catchy and full of soul and rhythm. My Love finishes the EP with everything worth waiting for; wholesomely endearing, powerful and encompassing.

The EP is out now and available for full download, as well as on all major streaming. Georgia has merch that can be purchased through her Instagram. All her music videos are on her YouTube channel here.
