Jadukor - Single Review: Always Yours

09 Jun 2020 // A review by [email protected]
Jadukor describes himself as "A mysterious magician who is pulling music out of his hat". Working the angle of intrigue can often pay dividends, and this solo artist is attracting plenty of attention with his particular brand of swaggering, alternative rock metal.

Always Yours introduces itself with an upbeat, high energy riff which opens into a wide, guitar driven soundscape. The mix thunders ahead with a balanced and full sound, that is easy on the ears. The guitar tones are old school and heavy sounding, with a dirty Marshall stack vibe.

As the verse breaks down with a Blindspott vibe, melodic vocals with a sweet tone that breaks apart nicely lead us into the pre-chorus. Some nice guitar textures and vocal layers fill out the mix tastefully and create a deep listening experience in a relatively sparse arrangement when compared to the intro.

The chorus lands big, wide and catchy - anthemic sounding with a powerful vocal refrain. The gritty vocal layers bolster the strong melodic vocal tone and make the melody the focus of attention.

After the second chorus, a wailing guitar solo ensues with technicality on show - this magician can slay the gat. A surprise key change ups the ante into the final chorus, and Jadukor leaves the audience wanting more, which they can easily have by clicking play again and again. This seems to be the case as the streams stack up on YouTube for this artist.

Always Yours is accompanied by a creepy video, detailing the perils of misplaced trust in a dark forest, and why it’s important to keep an eye out for witch doctors. This is a simple but effective concept which is executed well, and proves an evocative combination with the song.

In summary, a very polished outing for Jadukor - this is for fans of modern rock and metal, think Breaking Benjamin and Blindspott.
Rating: ( 4 / 5 )
