theajsound - Single Review: Promise

08 Jul 2020 // A review by Corinne Rutherford

Auckland based singer-songwriter Theajsound has just released his latest track Promise, a sentimental love song which he describes as an "ode to the beginning of a budding love".

Gaining popularity on YouTube with his cover hits, he quickly rose to social media fame when he had 11 million views around the world on his cover with Shirley Setia. Collaborating with international artists in Australia, New Zealand and India, he has long standing admiration for his musical talent.

Promise is a tender, touching and easy listening track which hits the mark as perfect for a wedding song. I have a feeling this will have mass appeal with his fans. A pop ballad which shoots an arrow straight to the heart.

In the throes of lockdown 2020, Promise was co-written with Lochana Wijesundera. While the intention of the song was to capture the feeling of intensity one experiences when falling for someone, it also managed to convey a warmth and intimacy wrapping the listener up in a love bubble.

A polished number, which reflects his background in music and study under a theatrical and vocal coach. With future releases planned, there is plenty to keep his ever growing fan base happy.

Rating: ( 4 / 5 )

About theajsound

theajsound is an-up-and coming RnB/Pop artist from Auckland.

Indo-Kiwi AJ has been honing his craft as a musician after dating a pianist with a musically inclined family. But music has always run through his veins, with a guitarist father who encouraged his musical development. AJ took that and then went on to study with a theatrical and operatic vocal coach.

With four previously released singles, there is much more to come from this talented up-and-coming artist, with further releases planned for 2020.
