Melbourne-based Cantabrian producer Oakley Grenell has ignited the Shottaz’ (Zimbabwe born artists Max and Hlats) new release Chimbambaira, which also features Nutty O. From the 2019 EP afro dancehall project Chimbambaira Reloaded sees the dynamic Shottaz team pair-up with various artists, DJs and producers to make way for some glorious remixes and riddims, including this steaming track with Oakley Grenell.
This remix stands out as the boldest and loudest of the EP. Spinning sirens in the background, it gets you off your chairs and on your limbs, while dancing in rhythm. Calling you to your feet, dancing in darkness with a dirty and persuasive bass - this is a track with hard-hitting “lyrical kung-fu” and a resonant beat; it also has a sweet music video viewable here.
It’s clear these crewmen are blowing up the streets with their live performances and big vibes, colour and bounce. The Shottaz crew clearly bring life to the party, while Grenell slices and smoothes the track. It’s bubbling, attention-grabbing and full of energy!
Oakley Grenell has performed all over New Zealand, playing support for well-known acts like The Nomad, Salmonella Dub and Mike Knock. He has played at Orientations, The Gathering, Soulstice, Destination, as well as numerous local dance parties and his own gigs.
Oakley is a Christchurch Jazz School Scholarship Graduate of Guitar. He is a member of the highly popular reggae band Bunyip and also recently formed the group the Otautahi Allstars. This group was formed, recorded, gigged, and disbanded all in the space of 2 weeks.
