Valkyrie is back with the catchy bop to end all catchy bops: Good Thing. This South Auckland based three piece produce famously groovy music that touches on elements of arena rock, pop and RnB. The overwhelming talents of Rebel Reid, Omer Gilroy and Brandon Haru has seen them light up the stage at Splore, George in the Park and Big Gay Out. Good Thing is paired with a fun music video directed by Shae Sterling.

The video is energetic and theatrical. The first minute introduces tragic mascara tears, a shimmy-ing fortune teller and a leather clad gentleman with moves like Jagger. It features bright colours and animated sensory backgrounds. The costumes are creative and professional, and the band looks like they’re having the time of their lives filming Good Thing. It’s refreshing to see people having so much fun making art together. Shae Sterling is to be congratulated on her seamless direction and editing. It's easy to get fully emerged and imagine you're at the wildest party of the season.

The track its self is groovy from bar one with a classic four to the floor beat and killer bass line. Their performance is smooth and energetic. While the sentiment is simple, nobody’s mad about some good vibes in 2020. Good Thing must be among the most positive releases the year has to offer. Valkyrie are working towards the release of their 2021 EP, but Good Thing is enough to have us counting down the days until we can get our groove on again.

Valkyrie is an exciting band that features the talented Omer Gilroy and Rebel Reid, a powerhouse of vocals, performance and talent from South Auckland, New Zealand. Their style has been described as pop/rock with uplifting melodies and powerful anthems.

Valkyrie has a dynamic set that caters for a wide audience. They have cover-worthy styling and their live sets are energetic and captivating. Achievements over the years have included a 12 show New Zealand tour, Splore 2018 + 2019 + 2021, Big Gay Out, George in the Park, and opening for Six60 (2021).

Valkyrie’s debut EP went straight to the top of the NZ heatseekers chart. Their recent single Good Thing has shot to over 1000 playlists, and 300k+ streams. It is full to the brim with good vibes and energy, guaranteed to make everyone feel good!
