Treenurse - Single Review: Pyjamas

26 Oct 2020 // A review by Gaby Ivanov-Giraldo

The new single release by Treenurse is here! Entitled Pyjamas, this is a snappy little indie/alt-rock number about giving life a full go; trying. It’s got a Beastie Boys surfy rock back beat, then some slowed-down intervals come in with some very wholesome, yet sorrowful lyrics about the mundane, troublesome experiences everyone faces day to day.

It’s a song that resonates with many of those feeling overworked, tired and are politely admitting to being a bit "over it". The overall groove of this song is cheery and really gets stuck in your head. I really like the vocals of Lucy Campbell; they're pretty raw, yet endearing and natural.

Treenurse reminds me of a more greeny, Kiwi version of Kate Nash; she’s got honest lyricism and despite not being pop, she’s definitely catchy. I can highly relate to the content of this track, and would love to be able to see her live one day!

Rating: ( 4 / 5 )

About Treenurse

Alternative indie-rock artist Treenurse is here, with a crunchy sound of dissonant guitars, matched with sharp, witty lyrics. Treenurse is plant punk; gentle, loving and compassionate, while at the very same time, brutally honest. It’s the most relatable music of 2020 you didn’t know you needed.

With years of live shows already under her belt, Lucy Campbell - the person behind the project - is debuting her recorded sound, produced alongside her band members Brayden Jeffrey and Simeon Kavanagh-Vincent (Lucky Boy^). With more music in the pipeline to be released in 2021, Treenurse is a name to watch out for.
