Ignatia : Rising - Single Review: Don’t Know For Sure

12 Jan 2021 // A review by Ben Ruegg

Ignatia : Rising are a 4-piece, occasional more piece, pop/rock group who crafted their style in the Wild West (Auckland, NZ) party and club circuit in the mid 90's. Their newest track, Don't Know For Sure brings about a sense of nostalgia. Be it the acoustic guitar that starts the track, or whether it's the beat of the song, it has a feel about it that takes me back to the early days of The Feelers.

Don't Know For Sure is kept simple yet effective. The slide guitar adds a great layer to help develop the questions asked within the lyrics. The bass and drums lock in providing the foundation for everything to be layered upon. The vocals are honest and real and where needed are backed up and supported with the backing vocals you would expect.

This feels like a song that dives into the realm of self-reflection, which I am a fan of. It is one I can hear people singing their hearts out when played live.

Rating: ( 3 / 5 )

About Ignatia : Rising

Ignatia : Rising are a 4 piece, occasional more piece, pop/rock group who crafted their style in the Wild West (Auckland, NZ) party and club circuit in the mid 90’s.

The group independently released their music with a 4 track EP (Demogoguery) following up with a 10 track album (Different Bodies : Different Minds) to good reviews. With six years of performing under their belt the group then embarked on an extended sabbatical for exploration and growth.

Fast forward to 2019 and Ignatia : Rising have dusted off the gear, tuned up, and plugged back in again. Maybe wiser, certainly longer in the tooth, and back to crafting music again.
