Etheran is a funky metal rock hybrid hailing from Christchurch.
Formed in 2016, they officially started touring in 2018 and this is their first EP, released at the beginning of the month.
Doppelganger is a four track collection of crunchy metal riffs, melody and plenty of talent.
From the start you know you’re in for a good ride when you hear vocalist, Lita Macabeo’s soaring harmonies. The next track Let Me Go (Remastered) is a definite stand out - you are treated to great melodies mixed with some seriously cool metal angst as the intensity builds and the backing screams come out in full force.
With a nice balance of placement, second to last track, Slave, is also a stand out track with a more funky temperament. It has some solid toe tapping, head nodding riffs going on and like the other tracks, vocally infectious.
A fantastic assortment for their debut EP. Etheran has managed to bring their best to the table, giving you just enough to have you wanting more.
Etheran was formed in 2016 by Wade Sloper while he was attending Jazz School in Christchurch. Wade brought in Travis Brett following his time at Vision College (Chch NZ) and upon meeting Isaac Peneha at Jazz School promptly enlisted his services.
After jamming in a bedroom for about 6 months Lita Macebeo, a friend of all 3 members was brought in to handle vocal duties and following a year of polishing and writing songs the band started actively gigging in the Christchurch scene in mid 2018.
