SKRAM consists of vocalist and guitarist Henry Ashby, drummer Felix Nesbitt and bassist and keyboardist Lee Pryor. The trio met through music teaching and formed an instant connection.
The track begins with stripped back electric guitar and Ashby’s crisp, clean vocals. The instrumentation builds up in the pre chorus with drums and bass joining in for the fun, building up to a euphoric, head bopping instrumental of a chorus.
The full band keeps things progressing in the second verse, before an exciting pre chorus with pulsing drums leads into a satisfying, big chorus with a quicker drum beat. The song reaches its climax with a final, half time chorus and soaring vocals, stadium rock like in its final moments.
The chorus is euphoric, and gets bigger and bigger each time it’s played. The track is reminiscent of Six60’s Forever. Freaking Me Out is triumphant, and an exciting introduction to this up and coming band. I look forward to seeing what else is in store for this trio.
