Dallas Harvey - Single Review: Patience

20 Oct 2021 // A review by Ben Ruegg

Auckland City’s up and coming Hip-Hop artist Dallas Harvey is a breath of fresh air with his honest lyricism, piecing his life together through story-telling and music. Mentored by the likes of Church from Church & AP, Chris RL and Melodownz, Dallas has built a well-versed understanding of self throughout his development at Te Karanga Navigators songwriting and production sessions.

On his newest track Patience, Dallas takes his time and tells his story. Using some great lines that reflect a lot of us who grew up around spacies, I definitely could relate to the line "Player One, Press start and playthrough". There just feels like there is a lot of realness to the delivery. Dallas doesn't need to hype things up, he just needs you to sit back and relax, chilling as you listen to his story ride across a soothing beat.

I also couldn't help but notice the cover for this single. The filter reminds me a little of Kendrick Lamar's Good Kid, M.A.A.D City album cover, which is my opinion is a nice touch.

A top-quality production from an up and coming hip hop star. Watch this space.
