King Cass - Single/Video Review: Yea Yea
The newest track from King Cass, Yea Yea, immediately grabbed me, and kept me. Starting out with a simple instrumental hook, leading into the smooth vocal line of the chorus, and on into King Cass delivering his message. All of this playing out over the visuals of King Cass and his mates hanging out in the garage, having a few cold ones, and just chilling. Nice.
One thing I absolutely love hearing is New Zealand artists not being afraid of being undeniably Kiwi in their vocals, and King Cass raps in a strong Kiwi accent, whilst almost reverentially draping himself in the New Zealand flag. There's no mistaking where King Cass is from.
The overall feel of the track is mellow and chilled whilst remaining upbeat and positive. Indeed, the message that King Cass is sharing is one of overcoming adversity, facing up to challenges, and being the best version of himself he can be. Also nice.
King Cass has ear-wormed his way into my brain forever with this track, it's as full of hooks as a ten metre roll of Velcro. Everyone I've played it to; I find singing the chorus at some later point. A nicely produced track with a well-matched video. All hail to the King.
About King Cass
He has been travelling around New Zealand spreading awareness through his music for several years now. In 2021 he completed his first NZ tour Yes We Next, with NZ artist Dilz and also connecting his music to the next generation through his presentation The Awakening. Recently in 2022 he opened up for rap star legends Onyx in Brisbane and Sydney.
King Cass's aim is to bring unity, raise awareness around topics at the forefront of the community and inspire change while building his brand.
