Planet Hunter - Single Review: Impostor

The Wellington quartet of Planet Hunter is offering a bouncy and addictive look into the new worlds they have discovered in the bridging of old and new rock. Their new single Impostor is exceedingly guitar-driven and backed up with a powerful set of vocals. The band leans into the worlds of hard rock of days come and gone, especially with this seasoned rock-centric vocal performance, which is reminiscent of iconic rock heroes like Chris Cornell and Kurt Cobain.
I also looked back at the band's last release, 2022’s Moscovium, and through this I was able to see the similarities in sound and performance to the new track.
Impostor on its own is too short to showcase the band’s collective prowess; especially to new listeners - my hope is that whatever this track is ramping up to, or what the band's plans are this year pay off with the new attention they receive with this release.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Impostor; it made me interested and aware of the band’s style, influence, and musicianship; despite the length, I am proud to say that I am definitely a fan, and cannot wait for what this talented bunch has to throw at us this year.
