Fur Patrol - A New Direction Posted: Wed Oct 20, 2004 8:47 pm This just in from Warners Music: "It is with sadness we announce that Steve (Guitarist) has decided to take a new direction with his life and leave Fur Patrol. Steve’s contribution to the band (and his drivers licence!) over the last 8 and a half years has been invaluable and inspired and we are going to miss him and his axe wielding skills a lot. All the same, we are excited for him as he moves on to follow other passions and discover new ones. We are continuing as a three piece and as such have begun writing for the next record. Things are going to be quite different and the three of us are really excited about what tangent this thing is going to spin out on from here. We love you heaps bro and are going to miss you a lot Simon, Andrew and Julia |

Fur Patrol Tour Announced Posted: Thu Apr 29, 2004 7:26 pm QUESTION: Which NZ band was asked to open for PINK on her Australian tour, DEEP PURPLE on their NZ dates and THE DATSUNS in the U.K all within a month of each other? ANSWER: FUR PATROL! That's right ladies and gentleman, there ain’t many bands out there that appeal to so many different audiences... The NME hyped cool of The Datsuns, the timeless rock n roll of Deep Purple and the angst ridden pop rock of superstar Pink. Fur Patrol fill the task nicely and were handpicked to support all of these bands on upcoming tours. Fur Patrol hit New Zealand with some new dates in celebration of NZ music month and the release of a brand spanking new single "Get Along" off their recently released record COLLIDER. They'll be fresh off supporting PINK on her Australian dates as main support in 15,000 capacity venues... So expect Fur Patrol to be in fine form! For the South Island and Wellington dates Fur Patrol are honoured to be joined by legendary flying nun act The Bats offshoot band Minisnap. Opening up the shows will be the brilliant rock n roll act from Wellington The Accelerants in their first ever South Island shows. Hamilton and Gisborne will also see The Accelerants on stage with Fur Patrol while in Hamilton local’s Rumpus Room will open up the night. Thursday May 6th Refuel - Dunedin Friday May 7th Rocky Cola - Christchurch Saturday May 8th Indigo - Wellington Wednesday May 12th Kings Arms - Auckland Thursday May 13th Altitude - Hamilton Saturday May 15th - Scottys - Gisbourne For more details check www.furpatrol.com Tickets for all shows on sale now from the venues or local record stores. RE: Fur Patrol Review Posted: Wed Jan 7, 2004 10:35 pm Thanks for the tip Jono. I'm planning on going to see them at O'F's tomorrow night. But the "best gig in recent memory" is a big call; I've still to see a gig beat the Headless Chooks in Melbourne (twice!) in 1993! |

Fur Patrol Review Posted: Fri Jan 2, 2004 3:17 pm For those of you that weren't in Christchurch on Monday night to experience Fur Patrol's first ever acoustic gig, you can go to their artist page and read the review. A photoalbum will follow in the next week. For those in attanedance it was the best gig in recent memory. So if you live up north, don't miss the opportunity to see Fur Patrol on their summer tour |

Fur Patrol signs with Universal Records Australia Posted: Thu Jan 30, 2003 5:18 pm Thanks to NoiZyland for the following: After a couple of years hard grind in the land of the bushfire, Fur Patrol have finally put pens to paper and signed a major label record deal with Universal Records Australia. They're the latest in a long line of NZ bands scoring significant offshore record deals, joining the likes of the Datsuns, the D4, Steriogram, and Zed, in getting some foreign help in their offshore pursuits. The band now head into Sing Sing studios in Melbourne with UK producer Mark Wallis on 19th Feb to begin recording their second album. They hope to have the album ready for release by the middle of the year. Shade muzic.net.nz |
